Update 7: The recruitment

The lockdown announced on 14 December 2021 has led to a number of changes in the format of the focus group meetings as described below.

22 November 2020

Looking for 12 people with Parkinson's and 4 relatives

Recruitment for the focus groups started

The preparations are almost completed and we can start looking for participants for phase I of the research: the focus group meetings.

These are on Tuesday 26 January and Tuesday 2 February 2021 from 9:30 - 11:30 at the Radboudumc in Nijmegen (in the studio where ParkinsonTV is recorded). Each time we are looking for six people with parkinson's disease and two relatives. So in total 16 people for 2 meetings.

What it means

Participating in the focus group meeting will take you approximately 3 hours + 1 travel time to and from Radboudumc. Most of this - 2 hours - will take place on the research day itself.

The steps are as follows:

  • Intake
The researcher will call you before the focus group meeting. The first call is to determine whether you can participate.
  • Preparatory phone call:
If you are able and willing to participate, a second phone call will follow in which the researcher will ask you about your own experiences with cognitive obstacles and detours by phone. This will take you about half an hour in total.
  • The focus group meetings:
The focus group meetings are from 9:30 to 11:30 on Tuesday 26 January and 2 February in the studio of the Centre for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders at the Rabdoudumc. Your presence is desired at one of these two meetings. During a meeting, a total of 12 people are in the studio, at a safe coronal distance: 6 people with parkinson's, 2 relatives of people with parkinson's, 2 supervisors (the principal investigator Marina Noordegraaf is assisted by an experienced process supervisor) and 2 observers who note down what they notice.

When recruiting, we strive for sufficient diversity (gender, age group, stage of life, cultural background, patient/partner, nature and severity of the experienced limitations).

Travel expenses are reimbursed and there is a small gift for participating.

UPDATE: We will be recruiting on 22 December 2020

14 out of 16
